Oil and Filter (Vehicle Service)

About your Oil and oil filter

There are many parts inside your engine that move. Oil provides the lubrication so the parts can move, and keep moving. Your engine oil also dissipates heat, and has detergents that keep the inside of your engine clean. On the cleaning front, think of your engine oil as soapy water in your sink, that water can only clean so many dishes before it becomes so dirty it is no longer effective.

  • The Oil itself
  • Oil filter
  • Various seals and gaskets in your engine that prevent the oil from leaking out

Warning signs from your car

  • Knocking sounds from your engine
  • Your engine does not sound happy, runs sluggishly
  • Puddle of oil under your car when you park it somewhere
  • Oil warning light comes on

 Vehicle service...

Changes in car technology, the use of computers and sensors in your car, has resulted in engines and cars that need service inspections instead of tune ups.

Reason... Parts that used to need adjusting to keep them working correctly, have been replaced with parts that are self adjusting or are fully electronic. In the past during a tuneup, a mechanic would also do a service inspection, or simply by working on the car notice other areas that need attention.

Managing expectations

Our Service Inspection covers items like block heater ground tests, (you'd be surprised) tire pressures, and all the major systems in your car. The purpose is to inspect the areas of your car that at some point in time will require maintenance and address them before you discover them by their failing or breaking.
